    John Boorman – The English Film maker from Ireland

    This English film maker from Ireland John Boorman was born on 18th January 1933 and was credited as the feature film specialist. His well publicized and acclaimed such creations were The Tailor of Panama, The Emerald Forest alongside Point Blank, The General, Deliverance, Hope and Glory, Zardoz, The Emerald Forest and Excalibur. He has all in all twenty two films to his credit in the capacity of a director.

    Boorman as he’s popularly called was born in Middlesex; but stayed in Ireland for longtime as a resident there. In the late 1950s he began his career as a drycleaner and journalist and was responsible for running the newsrooms of Southern Television based in Southampton and Dover. He then moved to the production of documentary films and in 1962 he eventually landed up with the job of heading the Bristol based documentary unit of BBC. John Boorman’s career is as varied as one can think as a feature film specialist beyond doubts. His Hope and Glory sequel creation Queen and County is set for 2014 release.
