    William Leon “Billy” Goldenberg was born on February 10, 1936 in Brooklyn, New York City. He is an American composer mostly known for his work on television and film. Among his most noteworthy were his collaborations with Steven Spielberg as his telefilms and his seven episode contribution toward the NBC Mystery movie detective series Colombo. He composed the theme music for several popular television programs, including Kojak, Rhoda and Our House. He also composed the score to countless films and made for TV movies, including Onasis: The Richest Man in the world.

    Goldenberg served as musical director for Elvis Presley’s Comeback special, the Ann Margret show, an evening with Diana Ross and others. He received an Emmy Award in 1975 for the CBS miniseries Benjamin Franklin and again in 1978 for the NBC miniseries King. He has received 22 Emmy nominations in total.

    His songs have been recorded by Barbra Streisand, Liza Minnelli, Diana Ross, Bea Arthur and Dorothy Laudon, among others.
