    Kirk Douglas – The Ragman’s Son

    Kirk Douglas was an American stage and film actor. He was born on 9th December 1916 in Amsterdam, New York and also known as producer of films and author. Some of the hits of Douglas are Out of the Past which was released in 1947 and again in 1949 Champion etc. to name a few since his hits came at regular intervals until 1965 and lastly in 1986 (Tough Guys). American Film Institute has accorded a ranking of seventeen to Douglas in the hierarchy of the greatest male film legends in American film history.    

    He began his career with US Navy during the World War II and prior to joining navy he legally changed to Kirk Douglas from Izzy Demsky. His father was a Jewish and that’s why his father was denied with a job in their native town’s carpet mill. This incident eventually made his dad to become a ragman.
