    Estelle Getty was born on 25 July, 1923 in the city of New York. She was the daughter of Sarah and Charles, whom had a glass business. She had a sister and a brother named Roz and David. She completed her school life in Seward Park High school.

    Getty was popularly known as Sophia Petrillo during 1980 which she did a role in this name. Getty completed an autobiography with Steve Delsohn during her play on The Golden Girls. She was married on December 21 in the year 1947 to Arthur Gettleman. They had two sons namely Carl Gettleman and Barry Gettleman, they lived on California and Florida.

    Getty nominated seven times for the Emmy award in her role on “The Golden Girls”. She nominated two times for the Golden Globe award in the play “The Golden Girls” and once won the Golden Globe award for the same play for her outstanding performance.
